Sowing Time of Cumin: A Guide to Successful Cultivation Cumin,

What is the applying method of nano urea?

Nano urea is a new form of nitrogen fertilizer that is being promoted to improve nutrient use efficiency and reduce excess use of conventional urea. Many farmers are curious about how to apply nano urea correctly so that crops get proper nutrition and yield improves. Using the correct application method is very important because nano urea works differently from granular urea.

Nano urea is mainly applied as a foliar spray, not as a soil application. Unlike traditional urea, which is broadcast or placed in the soil, nano urea is absorbed directly through the leaves. Because of its very small particle size, it enters the plant easily and supplies nitrogen efficiently. This helps reduce nitrogen loss through leaching or evaporation.

The right stage of application is very important. Nano urea should be sprayed when the crop is actively growing and has enough green leaf area. Generally, the first spray is recommended at 25–30 days after sowing or transplanting, when the crop has developed sufficient leaves. A second spray can be given 20–25 days after the first spray, depending on crop condition and nitrogen requirement.

For application, nano urea should be mixed with clean water. One bottle of nano urea is usually sufficient for one acre when sprayed properly. The solution should be mixed well so that it spreads evenly during spraying. Always ensure that the sprayer tank is clean and free from pesticide or fertilizer residues before mixing nano urea.

Spraying method plays a key role in effectiveness. Nano urea should be sprayed uniformly on the crop foliage. Fine mist spraying is preferred so that the solution covers both sides of the leaves. Spraying should not result in runoff; leaves should be wet but not dripping. Proper nozzle selection and correct pressure help achieve uniform coverage.

The time of spraying also matters. Nano urea should be applied during early morning or late afternoon hours. Spraying during hot midday hours should be avoided because high temperature can reduce absorption and cause leaf stress. Avoid spraying during strong winds or before rain, as it may reduce effectiveness.

Nano urea can be used along with conventional fertilizers, but it does not completely replace soil-applied nitrogen in all cases. Usually, part of the nitrogen requirement is met through basal fertilizer application, and nano urea is used to supplement nitrogen during crop growth. This approach improves nitrogen efficiency and reduces total urea use.

While using nano urea, farmers should avoid over-application. More sprays or higher doses do not give extra benefit and may stress the crop. Follow the recommended number of sprays and interval strictly. Nano urea should not be mixed with incompatible chemicals unless compatibility is confirmed.

Crop condition and soil moisture influence results. Crops under severe moisture stress may not respond well to foliar sprays. Light irrigation before spraying helps improve nutrient absorption. Healthy and actively growing crops respond best to nano urea application.

Safety is also important. While nano urea is considered safer and more efficient, basic precautions should be followed during spraying. Use protective clothing, avoid inhaling spray mist, and wash hands after application.

In conclusion, nano urea should be applied mainly as a foliar spray at the correct crop stage, using proper spraying techniques and timing. Uniform coverage, correct dose, and suitable weather conditions are key factors. When used properly along with balanced fertilization, nano urea helps improve nitrogen use efficiency, reduce fertilizer cost, and support healthy crop growth.
