Subsidies in poly house

Title: The Role of Subsidies in Sustainable Polyhouse Farming Introduction:

How to get a tube well connection?

Getting a tube well connection is important for many farmers, especially those who depend on reliable irrigation for crops like paddy, sugarcane, vegetables, and plantations. A tube well helps ensure regular water supply, reduces dependence on monsoon rainfall, and allows farmers to grow crops throughout the year. The process to get a tube well connection may differ slightly depending on the state, but the basic steps remain the same. Understanding these steps helps farmers plan better and avoid delays.

The first step is identifying whether your land is suitable for a tube well. Not all areas have enough underground water, and some regions are restricted due to over-extraction. Farmers should get a borewell survey done, usually by a local geologist or groundwater technician. They use tools like divining rods or scientific equipment to locate underground water levels. This survey helps decide the right spot and depth for drilling.

Once you have a suitable location, the next step is to apply for permission if required. Some states require farmers to get approval from the Groundwater Authority or local panchayat before drilling. In many rural areas, small agricultural borewells may not need formal permission, but it is better to check with the Village Office, Agriculture Department, or local water authority to avoid legal issues later.

After this, farmers must arrange for a drilling machine. Borewell contractors are available in most towns, and booking them early is important, especially during peak farming seasons. The contractor will drill the borewell to the required depth and install the casing pipe. The depth depends on groundwater level, which can range from 100 to 800 feet or more depending on the area.

Once the bore is ready, the next step is to get an electricity connection for the tube well motor. Farmers need to apply to their state electricity board or local power corporation for an agricultural pump set connection. Documents generally required include:

Land ownership record (RTC, patta, or pahani)

Aadhaar card or ID proof

Borewell completion certificate (if required)

Application form for an agricultural power connection

Some states offer subsidized or priority agricultural connections, especially for certified farmers. After submitting the application, the electricity department will inspect your farm, check the borewell, and estimate the transformer or line requirement. Depending on availability, they will provide a new connection or upgrade the existing line.

The farmer then installs a motor and pump set, usually between 3 HP and 7.5 HP depending on bore depth and water yield. The pump is lowered inside the borewell with proper safety measures. An electrician connects the motor to the power supply, ensuring earthing and overload protection for safety.

Maintaining the tube well is equally important. Farmers should periodically check the motor, pipe, and wiring. Using water-efficient irrigation methods like drip or sprinkler systems helps reduce wastage and extends the lifespan of the borewell.

In simple words, getting a tube well connection involves surveying the land, arranging for drilling, applying for electricity, installing the motor, and following safety practices. With proper planning and timely applications, farmers can secure a reliable irrigation source that supports better crop growth and higher income.
